As part of the global celebrations for the IFE’s 100 year celebrations, the Malaysian branch has organised a mountain climbathon on Mount Kinabalu, the region’s highest peak. Ex-firefighter and IFE member, Chris Bilby, is climbing Mount Kinabalu in April 2018 to raise money for The Fire Fighter’s Charity. The climb itself will be self-funded, with all monies raised going to The Fire Fighter’s Charity.
The mountain, located in Borneo, stands at an impressive 4,095m tall, and is the 20th most prominent mountain in the world! About the climb, Chris said “Rather than just enjoying a gentle (4.095m (13.435ft)) ramble, as an ex-service firefighter and officer, I want my efforts to benefit the Charity and thereby help assist all of my brothers and sisters that may have the misfortune to suffer in pursuit of their duties.”
