Contracts and Tenders
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service currently spends about £4 million per year on a wide range of goods and services. The Service must ensure that the money it receives through taxation is used as efficiently as possible and that it achieves best value in the use of this money.
The Service undertakes joint procurement with other Fire Authorities in the East Midlands Region and also makes use of contracts awarded by other bodies on behalf of public sector authorities, such as ESPO, Buying Solutions and the Police Information Technology Organisation (PITO).
The way in which the Service procures goods and services is set out in the CFA’s Contract Procedure Rules which can be found in the link below to the CFA’s Constitution. In brief, contracts with an estimated value of less than £80,000 are subject to a quotation regime whilst those estimated to be above £80,000 are subject to open competition. As a public body once the estimated value reaches the EU Threshold then procurement is subject to the provisions of the Public Contracts Regulations 2006.

The Service keep an annual register of all contracts and deeds entered into. Much of the detail contained within the register is commercially sensitive and therefore confidential. However, we are able to publish here an abstract from the register which sets out who we have contracted with and the nature of the transaction - please follow the link below. This abstract will be updated quarterly on 1 March, 1 July, 1 October, 1 January each year.
