Appointment of Independant Lay Members

 

STANDARDS COMMITTEE

Standards Committees oversee and promote Local Authority arrangements to ensure probity and the highest standards of governance in the conduct of business by members serving on the Authorities. This role includes local determination of standards investigations.
   
Vacancies have arisen on Standards Committees for the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Combined Fire Authority and the Leicestershire Police Authority.
   
Applications are invited for one or both of these positions.
 

Ideally you should have:

   
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms
Experience of assimilating information from different perspectives to form a balanced judgement
The ability to apply detailed legislative provisions to specific circumstances
Commitment to matters of probity and integrity
   

You are ineligible to apply if you:

   
Have been an officer or Member of the Fire or Police Authorities in the past five years
Have a relative or close friend who is a Member or officer of the Fire or Police Authorities
Are currently a Member or officer of a Local Authority
Are politically active
   

You will be able to claim travel and subsistence expenses and be entitled to claim an allowance.
