There are two types of availbility:-
Full cover – 120 hours or more per week
(If released from full time employer during the day or self employed)
3/4 Cover – Less than 120 hours per week
It is a requirement that you must be able to attend, without contravening Road Traffic Regulations your local Station, within 4 minutes so as to permit the turnout of an appliance within 5 minutes of the receipt of call at the Station and to maintain this availability during each day.
It is also a requirement to attend for drill and maintenance duties, for a period normally not exceeding three hours per week.
Retained Firefighter Salary Your salary will be based on the cover you give and the phase you are currently working to:
Full cover - 120 hours or more per week:
Phase 1 - Training £1,992, Hourly rate £9.09, Disturbance £3.48
Phase 2 - Development £2,075.04, Hourly rate £9.47, Disturbance £3.48
Phase 3 - Competent £2,655, Hourly rate £12.12, Disturbance £3.48
Pay scales are reviewed in November each year.
3/4 Cover - Less than 120 hours per week:
Phase 1 - Training £1,494, Hourly rate £9.09, Disturbance £3.48
Phase 2 - Development £1,556.28, Hourly rate £9.47, Disturbance £3.48
Phase 3 - Competent £1,991.28, Hourly rate £12.12, Disturbance £3.48
