Work Experience at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service recognises its role in improving the knowledge regarding fire and rescue service careers amongst young people and that work experience offers the opportunity to become familiar with the skills and attitudes required in the world of work.
Work experience provides:
- An opportunity for students to work in a situation with adults other than teachers
- To find out what work involves
- A way of relating their studies to life after education
- An experience of what going into the adult world will be like
- An insight into a critical area which employers want developed
Students who may apply for a work experience placement at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service will usually fall into one of the following categories:
- Students as part of their University and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS) application need to demonstrate Work Experience.
- Students of secondary school who are required to undertake initial work experience of one or two weeks.
- Students undertaking apprenticeships such as NVQs in Business, Administration and Finance.
- Students undertaking the Public Service Diploma.
- Students contemplating a professional career in the Fire Service.
- As part of the Prince’s Trust programme.
- Graduates or Postgraduates who require work placements to undertake project work related to their study.
