How you can get involved
Throughout the programme there are a number of ways you can get involved to support more young people to get into work and or/ education.
-
Pre–Team: Making referrals
We endeavour to reach as many young people as possible. If you know of anyone who you feel is suitable for the 12 week programme please refer them to us and spread the word. -
Weeks 3–6: Community Project
During weeks 3-6 the Team carries out a Community Project. Previous examples include developing a sensory garden at a school or renovating a room at a care home. If you know of any projects that would really benefit from a makeover or if you can donate any tools, paint, equipment please contact the Team staff. -
Weeks 7–8: Individual Work Placements
Each Team member completes an individual two week work placement with the aim of adding to their CV and gaining invaluable experience. If you can a offer work placement it would help a young person get a feel for the industry and hopefully gain a reference to help them succeed. -
Week 9: Looking to the Future
Week 9 is focused on each young person’s ‘next step’ after the end of Team. They will carry out mock interviews, apply for jobs and research their chosen work or education option. If you can add anything to this week – a development workshop or opportunity for young people to find out about a new job sector/course option – please do get in touch. -
Weeks 10–11: Team Challenges
In weeks 10 – 11 the Team complete challenges where they can put all their skills into practice. It should be both mentally and physically challenging and involve caring for other people. Some examples are working in a residential home or working with people with learning difficulties. If you have any ideas for a great Team Challenge please let us know. -
Week 12: Final Presentation
The best way to find out about the Team programme is to attend a final presentation delivered by the Team members. To be added to our invite list please email ptt@lfrs.org.
Other ways to get involved:
-
Secondments
We are always looking for additions to our staff Team, could you become a seconded Assistant Team Leader? -
Progression Mentors
These volunteers provide invaluable support to young people by working with them post-Team to achieve their goals of work, education or training.
Contact Ellen Jackson for further details on any of the above.
