International Search and Rescue (ISAR)
Introduction
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service’s International Search and Rescue Team is a group of serving operational staff who volunteer to respond to major incidents at the request of the Department for International Development (DFID) 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
This could be internationally, due to an environmental disaster such as an earthquake, for example Indonesia, 2009 and most recently in Haiti, 2010, or nationally to assist with local Fire and Rescue Services, for example the Stockline Plastics Explosion in Glasgow, 11th May 2004.
