At 11:53am today, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service received a call to a road
traffic collision on the city bound carriage way of the A46 near to the Junction for Six
Hills. The collision had occurred between a coach and a minibus with initial reports
suggesting multiple people were trapped.
Crews from Central and Loughborough Fire and Rescue Stations attended, along
with a specialist Technical Rescue crew from Southern Fire and Rescue Station.
Crews in attendance found no-one to be trapped in the vehicles concerned.
Firefighters then assisted the ambulance service in dealing with the causalities at the
scene. A total of 17 confirmed casualties have been conveyed to hospital by
ambulance.
The cause of the collision will now be subject to investigation.
