Retained Firefighter Awareness Day 23.11.07

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is holding a retained firefighter awareness
day, from 10am until 2pm, on Saturday 24 November at Loughborough Station. This
will give people, with an interest in a career as a retained firefighter, a chance to find
out more about the job.

Tim Herbert, Head of Community Safety, commented;
‘Retained or part-time firefighters are a vital part of Leicestershire Fire and
Rescue Service and are extremely dedicated individuals. To qualify you must
live within 4 minutes of the retained station that you apply to work at and if
possible be able to respond to an alert from your workplace.
On the day we will be re-creating some of the tests that people have to pass
to gain entry to the Fire and Rescue Service and members of the public can
have a go at trying them out. Firefighters will be on hand to answer any
questions that you might have about the job, training requirements etc so
please come along and find out how you can serve your community.’
For more information about this awareness day, please call 0116 287 2241.
