Firefighters Release Person From School Demolition Site

At approximately 1:50pm today, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service received a
call to a building that had collapsed at a school on the Ridgeway in Oadby which is
currently under demolition.

Crews from Wigston and Southern Fire and Rescue Stations and also several
specialist appliances from our Technical Rescue Team attended to find one male
construction worker trapped underneath fallen sections of the two storey concrete
building that had partially collapsed.

Firefighters used onsite machinery along with slings, chains and air bags to remove
the concrete slabs from the casualty. The casualty has now been released and
taken to hospital.
