Leicestershire Firefighters Return From Search and Rescue Efforts in Indonesia

We would like to invite members of the media to attend a news conference
at Southern Fire and Rescue Station, Meridian East, Leicester on 9 October
2009 at 2pm
(see notes at end). Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service
firefighters, who formed part of the United Kingdom’s fire and rescue service
International Search and Rescue Team (ISAR), are returning from Sumatra,
Indonesia.

The ISAR team left for Indonesia on 2 October 2009 and went to the Padang
area of Sumatra. Although they did not participate in any of the live rescues,
they did still play an important role in the recovery efforts.

Interviews

Members of the ISAR Team and Howard Robinson, Assistant Chief Fire and
Rescue Officer, will form part of an interview panel at the news conference.

Photographs and images

We will hopefully be releasing images taken during the deployment on CD at
the news conference.

Members of the media will be able to take images/ photos of the ISAR Team
arriving back at the station, being greeted by their families, friends and Chief
