Costly Smoke Alarm Installations

It has been brought to our attention that smoke alarms are being fitted to homes within Leicestershire by a contractor at the cost of £200.

In actual fact smoke alarms displaying the British Standard Kite Mark can be bought from as little as £5 from most major supermarkets and large DIY stores. Installing a smoke alarm isn’t complicated and each pack will contain the instructions on how to fit it properly. There is no need for any person to be spending £200 to have an alarm fitted. If you do have difficulties in fitting your smoke alarm/ alarms, then Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service may be able to assist you.
