Firefighters Get on Their Bike For a Good Cause
Firefighters from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) are aiming to raise money for an injured colleague by cycling from Southport and Formby District Hospital, Southport to Western Fire and Rescue Station, Leicester on Monday 31 August 2009.
Kevin Davies, a former firefighter from LFRS, was injured in a motorcycle
accident and is currently in a wheelchair and his colleagues are raising
money to make his accommodation more comfortable.
Graham Surridge, a firefighter from Western fire and Rescue Station
and friend of Kevin, Said:
"This is a chance for us to help our friend and colleague out. The reason we will be cycling from the hospital is because this is where Kevin was treated. We would like to thank the firefighters of the station at Southport for hosting us the night before our journey and all of those who have donated money for this cause.”
The group of eight will be setting off before sunrise on Bank Holiday
Monday and will be cycling for between 10 and 12 hours over a
distance of around 140 miles.
