Leicestershire Fire And Rescue Service Is Improving Well

Following a recent assessment of performance undertaken by the Audit Commission, on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service has been given a clean bill of health and is performing and improving well.
The assessment concentrated on how Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service uses its resources and how well it delivers its services to the community. In 2005, following a Comprehensive Performance Assessment, the Service was rated as one of the best in the country and achieved a Good rating. Since 2005, this position has been maintained and improved upon.
The report that the Audit Commission has provided states:
’The fire and rescue authority has performed well over the last year in delivering its priorities and meeting national targets.’
’It is working with a broad range of partners. Engagement with local communities is good and positive initiatives are being delivered to ensure that services are more responsive of local need.’
’The Service is well prepared operationally with effective arrangements in place to provide adequate resources at incidents.’
’Elected Members are proactive within the Service and local political support is strong…’
’The Fire and Rescue Authority provides good value for money’
Dave Webb, Chief Fire and Rescue Officer, commented:
’We are very pleased with the assessment result and it does reflect how well we are doing. Our continued high national rating has been achieved through a team approach and I would like to thank all elected members and fire service staff for their continued commitment and ongoing support. We are all very proud of our Fire and Rescue Service’
