Decisions Made at the Combined Fire Authority Meeting, 10 February 2010

At the full meeting of the Combined Fire Authority on Wednesday 10 February 2010 the proposals as detailed in the Integrated Risk Management Plan 2009-2012 were discussed and decided upon.

The decisions made were as follows: -

  1. A new fire and rescue station will be established in the Castle Donington area, crewing to be determined.
     
  2. Moira Fire and Rescue Station will close when the new station opens in the Castle Donington area. The disposal of the building and land at Moira will de deferred until 12 months after the new station opens in the Castle Donington area
     
  3. A new fire and rescue station will be built at Birstall, to be crewed by wholetime firefighters.
     
  4. Syston Fire and Rescue Station will close when the new station opens at Birstall. The disposal of the building and land at Syston will be deferred until 12 months after the new station opens at Birstall.
     
  5. A day crew will be introduced at Melton Mowbray Fire and Rescue Station provided by 14 wholetime firefighters.
     
  6. A nucleus of eight wholetime firefighters will be established to provide resilience, primarily in the north of the Authority area.
     
  7. The retained duty section at Loughborough Fire and Rescue Station will be removed.
     
  8. The number of personnel at Hinckley Fire and Rescue Station will be reduced by eight.
