Two Year Old Girl Helps to Alert Parents of Hedge Fire
Members of the media are invited to attend Billington Close, Leicester at 11am on Tuesday 20 July 2010, where firefighters from Western Fire and Rescue Station will be congratulating two year old Amber Lee who recently alerted her parents about a fire.
Fire crews from Western Fire and Rescue Station were called out to a hedge fire on Thursday 29 June 2010 at 7.30pm. Amber was playing outside with her sister when she noticed the hedges on the street were on fire, she immediately ran to alert her mother, father and neighbour. A call was placed to Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service immediately.
It is quite unusual for a two year old child to alert parents of danger. The firefighters wanted to reward Amber for her quick thinking under the circumstances.
Amber will meet with the firefighters and be presented with a small gift of thanks.
