Open Day at Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Station

Firefighters from Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Station extend an invite to everyone to attend their annual open day this weekend.

Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Station, Fairfield Road, Market Harborough, Leicestershire, LE16 9QJ on Saturday 4 September 2010, 12pm until 5pm.

The open day promises to be a great opportunity for the whole family to enjoy a day out with lots of things to see and do and to learn about the work of the fire and rescue service. The day will give the family a chance to experience the Smoke House which simulates being in a real house fire, and firefighters will encourage families to fit working smoke alarms and make an escape plan. Other attractions include mini fire engine rides and refreshments.

Demonstrations* being performed during the day include:

12.30 - Chip Pan Fire

13.30 - Road Traffic Collision

15.00 - Chip Pan Fire

15.30 - Ladder Rescue

16.30 - Chip Pan Fire

Firefighter from Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Station, Mick Robinson said:

‘This is a fantastic opportunity for the public to come and meet their local firefighters and see some of the things we do. It’s also a great way for firefighters to meet the people we serve and demonstrate a little of what we do whilst at the same time answering any fire safety concerns the public may have.’
