The Public Register of Safety Enforcement

As part of our work to keep Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland safe, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) carries out inspections across a wide range of premises. If potential fire safety issues are found, action can be taken to ensure the responsible person for the premises deals with these issues to ensure the premises are made safe. This includes issuing legal notices, which require the responsible person to take specific actions, usually within a specified time, to ensure the premises are made safe.

The Environment and Safety Information Act 1988 requires Fire and Rescue Services and Local Authorities to maintain a register of information concerning the issue of prohibition, alteration and enforcement notices, which must be open to inspection by the public free of charge.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service issue these types of notices under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Publication of this register also fulfils our responsibilities under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
