Domestic Fire Safety
In addition to providing an excellent response to emergency incidents, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service also seeks to improve community safety by working proactively to prevent fires and other emergencies from happening.
The most effective way to save lives and to reduce injuries is to reduce the number of incidents that happen in the first place.
The Fire and Rescue Service sets out to achieve these goals through a system of preventative education involving a wide range of initiatives aimed at promoting a safe environment from fires, road traffic collisions and other emergencies.
These education initiatives are delivered by not only frontline firefighters but also by a dedicated team which consists of Community Safety Educators and Firecare
Community Safety Educators
The role of the team of Community Safety Educators is to interact with the community to deliver fire safety talks and presentations as and when needed depending on any emerging trends. Any ages, ethnic backgrounds, disabilities, youth and community groups can be targeted to educate them on fire safety in the home. Community Safety Educators also support firefighters at public events.
