As with fires, we would rather help prevent than intervene when things have gone wrong. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service attended 654 road traffic collisions in the last year, dealing with 55 fatalities, 297 seriously injured and 3162 slightly injured.
The following table highlights the comparative number of people killed by accidental dwelling fires and road traffic collisions in 2010 across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It also gives an approximate breakdown of the financial implications.
