Risks and Changes
In 2001 UK fire services attended more than 30,000 fires in workplaces. These fires killed over 30 people and injured more than 2,000. The costs of a serious fire can be high, and many businesses affected by fire never re-open; the total cost of commercial fires in 2000 was £270,000,000.
New Fire Regulations have just come into force (1 October 2006). Please click here to find out more about what you need to know.
The fire regulations place responsibility for fire safety in the workplace on employers. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service works with employers to make workplaces safe from fire, protecting employees and premises through three geographical teams and the technical fire safety team.
