Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service believes that everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or transgender (LGBT), should have the right to be treated fairly and with respect.
However, LFRS recognises that every day, across the globe, sexual orientation or gender identity can lead to abuse in the form of discrimination, violence, bullying and harassment. LFRS is working to ensure that the workplace is an enjoyable environment for all employees and those that come into contact with our services.
Service LGBT Network – shOUT!
The Service’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transexual (LGBT) shOUT! Network consists of both operational and support staff, who want to contribute to the Service’s ambition of making Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service an organisation that is free from discrimination, victimisation, bullying and harassment because of an individual’s sexual orientation. The shOUT! Network meets regularly to assist in shaping the delivery of equality initiatives specific to LGBT people. The Network is also looking at developing roles for dedicated Network members who can offer support, mentoring and coaching to members of staff who may require support in different aspects of life in the workplace. If you want to be part of the network or want to talk to one of the members about sexual orientation and workplace equality, please email shOUTLGBT@lfrs.org. We encourage wider participation on the network from all staff regardless of whether they identify as LGBT.
Leicestershire Emergency Services LGBT Network – 999 Network
The Service is also part of a county based emergency services 999 Network which brings together the work and good practice of our shOUT! Network, the Police LGBT Network and EMAS LGBT Network.
