About

Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Station opened on 7 November 1989. It was relocated from Abbey Street to Fairfield Road, and the newer station was officially opened by HRH the Duke of Gloucester. Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Station responds to a wide variety of calls covering a vast range of risk. This includes many rural farms, busy roads (B6047, A6 and A304), medium rise properties, care homes, hospitals, a train station, canal routes including tunnels, an ever increasing number of domestic properties, as well as industrial units over several business parks. Within Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Stations turn out area is HMP Gartree which is our only CAT4 risk. Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Station respond to around 220 fire calls a year, and this number is increasing with the addition of Emergency First Responding on station – Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Station are taking a range of calls from EMAS and Market Harborough are one of the stations currently taking part in this project. Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Station sits on the border with Northamtonshire, as a result of this geographical location we work with Northampton Fire and Rescue Station supporting them on calls in the immediate surrounding area. With the Hose Layer (S36W2) being housed at this station, we can respond anywhere in the county/country. Personnel from Market Harborough Fire and Rescue Station have been to several other stations within Leicestershire to assist with Water Strategies’ and appliance familiarisation presentations.
