FAQs

What do Highfields Blues do?

The team work with partners and residents of Highfields to deliver a healthier, safer and more secure community by educating and directing residents to appropriate services via a home visit service and delivering appropriate campaigns, to reduce the number of emergency calls in the area.

What are the key messages?
  • To increase awareness in the community to stay healthie, safer and more secure
  • To increase awareness of non-emergency services
  • To reduce demand on our emergency services
  • To work in collaboration with each other and community organisations
What are home visits and why do Highfields Blues do them?

Home visits are a free 30 minute service the team offer to understand and identify any problems or risks residents may have. The team can then give appropriate advice and information on home and vehicle security, safety in the home, fire and child safety and health and wellbeing and direct them to correct services and channels. The team also offer help with loneliness, anxiety, depression and dealing with antisocial behaviour. Each home visit is tailored to suit each person or family’s needs and information about other organisations that may be able to help is available during the visit.

Who do Highfields Blues work with?

The team work with a number of partner organisations such as Leicester City Council, Housing, GPs, pharmacies, schools and community groups as well as working closely with Highfields’ local community. Working with partners helps to make a sustainable community where Highfields residents know who to turn to when they are in need, without having to ring 999.

Where are Highfields Blues based?

The team are currently based at Central Fire and Rescue Station, but spend a lot of their time out in the community conducting home visits and working with local groups and partners.
