Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and partner agencies to share this commitment.

In support of our Community Safety Strategy we have implemented a range of initiatives that are targeted towards making our community safer. The following programmes for children and young people are some of these.

  • A free, confidential service for children of any age who play with fire
  • A targeted short course of up to 30 hours, consisting of basic firefighting drills and other areas such as arson, first aid, hoax calls, and fire safety
  • Our Cadet units are open to young people aged 13 – 18 from all backgrounds
